The first DuPho Zuid evening in Tilburg, The Netherlands
On Thursday 22 of January, DuPho organized their first DuPho Zuid evening in Tilburg, The Netherlands. (DuPho stands for Dutch Photographers and is the professional organization for professional image makers in The Netherlands).
Laila Schoofs of DuPho and Rene van der Hulst, X-photographer and DuPho ambassador, hosted a nice and interesting meeting with lectures and presentations.
Joris Robben, a portrait, editorial and landscape photographer, presented “The Zone Calls Me”. A series of dark, depressing and very personal images. The story in this photo series is based on a first-person perspective from his dad, who struggles with Alzheimer’s.
Arjen Janssen of Fujifilm Photo Imaging in Tilburg, explained the unique process of photographic paper production. At Fujifilm Tilburg, they create millions of square meters each year – FSC® certified. Besides that, he presented beautiful samples of prints and photobooks.
Bjorn Staps, an experienced photographer and senior lecturer at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, presented his documentary project EUROPEAN COWBOY. A project about identity, heroism, and freedom. It shows the lives of a close-knit community of young cowboys in Europe who practice ‘bull riding’, part of the classic (American) rodeo and also the most dangerous sport in the world.
All prints exhibited are printed on Fujifilm original photographic paper.
