No plans for August? All of you who come to the Wonder Expo room of the Wonder Photo Shop (C/Gran de Gràcia, 1, Barcelona) before 26 August can enjoy the magnificent photographs that form part of the exhibition “The adventures of Guille and Belinda and the enigmatic meaning of their dreams”, by the Argentinian photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti.

Alessandra Sanguinetti was born in New York in 1968 and grew up in Argentina, where she lived from 1970 to 2003. Her interest in photography began at the age of nine, when she leafed through her mother’s book collection, with authors such as Michael Lesy and Dorothea Lange, among others. He studied Anthropology at the University of Buenos Aires and General Studies at the International Center of Photography.

In 1996 he began working on a series entitled “En el sexto día” (On the sixth day), which explored the complex relationship between man and domestic animals in the Argentinean countryside. Three years after beginning this project, she turned her attention to two nine- and ten-year-old cousins, Belinda and Guille; their grandmother’s farm had been the subject of “On the Sixth Day”. Drawn to the girls, whose obvious affection for each other is somewhat magnified by their uneven physiques, Sanguinetti took photographs to “crystallise your rich but fragile and neglected world”.

Sanguinetti followed the two girls for five years and embarked on a life-long project, photographing them collaboratively as they grew up and, today, as adult women. The first five years culminated in an acclaimed monograph, “The Adventures of Belinda and Guille and the Enigmatic Meaning of Their Dreams”.

This work was made in analogue and was part of the 2022 edition of the Revela’t International Analogue Photography Festival and has been printed on Fujifilm Original Photographic Paper.

You can visit it from 17h to 20h from Monday to Saturday.

Here are some of the photographs that you will be able to see in the exhibition.
